T O P I C R E V I E WI'm so cappyFew celebs shared their birth time and some websites like astrotheme have a lot of charts with houses. Are they just a guess or are they actually accurate? If they're accurate, that would mean people who have the access to the documents are behind it. Isn't that an illegal practice?on the internet*------------------I'm sooo happy! I mean, cappy.starmoon quote:Originally posted by I'm so cappy:Few celebs shared their birth time and some websites like astrotheme have a lot of charts with houses. Isn't that an illegal practice?on the internet*it is not an illegal practice. many states have birth databases that give far more info than you'd even imagine. my brother is posted in a database for the state he was born in and they gave the time, and even give my mom's maiden name. we were stunned when we found it and the database is run by the state, for free! much more info. is out there and available than people even realize. it's not illegal. it's illegal to request a birth certificate if you are not the parent/person but there are many other ways to get the info. many states passed laws protecting privacy like that in the 80s, so a lot of the information was gained before that time and is harder to get nowI'm so cappyThanks for enlightening me, I'm not from the USA. I find it odd...What about celebs from other countries?------------------I'm sooo happy! Isn't that an illegal practice?on the internet*Someone has seen the birth certificate? Some biographies are more specific than others, too. The biographer will go to the troublel of finding out the exact time. If the time isn't known, most biographers include a birth date.Someone reads the biography then creates a chart for the celebrity. This is how the time is discovered, for some of them. PlutoSurvivorAstro theme is a French company. But even in USA it is legal to post information about anyone in public life. Legal action is taken constantly over false information published about public figures, so you can never take what you read seriously. The Astrodienst Databank ratings are most reliable for birth data. Astrotheme supposedly a close second. It might help to read the web site policies. This is from Astrotheme:"9.2 In case of any contentious or erroneous information on the website pages of www.astrotheme.fr: should you think that an information may be detrimental to the reputation of a person or a group of persons, or that it seems wrong or contentious to you, please do not hesitate to let us know by e-mail, and we will immediately withdraw the said information upon your request. The whole amount of information is hereby released in good faith and in line with the normal practice of any Astrology website: interpretation of astrological themes, information read in the media such as the birth dates of people leading a public life, articles already published on the internet, etc. With the vocation of being a website of counsel and assistance, not a controversial website, Astrotheme would like to avoid any harm to the honour of an individual or a corporate body."PlutoSurvivorIn the USA there are exceptions to the Privacy Act for public figures. "It seems widely accepted that there are different degrees of justification for the invasion of privacy, depending on the position you hold in the public eye. Firstly there are people who hold a position of power and responsibility, ranging from national power (e.g. politicians) to local responsibility (e.g. teachers and clergymen). Secondly there are celebrities; people who choose to be in the public eye but not because they hold a position of responsibility. The third group is ‘regular’ people, who are thrust into the spotlight through a famous relative or by an event or disaster that they were part of or witnessed."PlutoSurvivorAlso, the privacy act protects from government not from privately owned businesses or private citizens. It's complicated. "As newspapers and tabloids are privately owned they are not in breach of the human rights act if they invade someone’s privacy to get a story"I guess the same is true for web sites. An individual can always ask info to be deleted. For Celebs it's free publicity, really. page oneAstro.com tells you what the source for the info is. Astrotheme's sources are anyone's guess.
